How to Crop PDF

PDF pages often have oversized white borders, scanner artifacts at the edges, or simply more margin than a design requires. ZimaPDF's Crop tool lets you visually trim any PDF page with a drag-and-drop frame, removing unwanted whitespace without affecting the content quality.

1

Upload your PDF file

Drop your document into the upload zone. The file stays entirely on your device — no server uploads, no data exposure.

2

Drag the crop frame

Use the side and corner handles to define exactly which area to keep. The crop frame shows a live preview of the result. You can apply the same crop uniformly to every page or adjust each page individually.

3

Process and Download

Click Crop PDF to process the file and download it. The original file is never modified — you always get a fresh cropped copy.

Why use ZimaPDF for crop pdf?

Visual Drag-and-Drop Cropping

Adjust the crop frame with handles rather than typing pixel values blind. What you see in the preview is exactly what you get in the output.

Apply to All Pages or Specific Pages

Crop the whole document uniformly with one action, or navigate page by page and set a different crop area for each one.

No Quality Loss

Cropping only adjusts the visible canvas area (the PDF MediaBox and CropBox). It does not re-encode, recompress, or otherwise touch the actual images and vectors inside the file.

Remove Scanner Borders Instantly

Physical document scanners often add dark edges or grey borders to scanned pages. Crop them off in seconds to get clean, professional-looking pages.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping permanently modify the original file?

No. ZimaPDF creates a new file and downloads it. Your original PDF on disk is never modified, so you always have a fallback if you crop too aggressively.

Can I crop all pages to the same region at once?

Yes. By default the crop applies to all pages in the document. If you only want to crop specific pages, you can toggle per-page mode and adjust each page individually.

Will cropping affect the image or text quality?

No. Cropping in PDF terms modifies the MediaBox and CropBox — it doesn't re-encode or recompress anything. Images and vector text remain at their original quality.

Can I crop away content, not just margins?

Technically yes — the crop frame can be set to exclude any part of the page, including actual content. The content outside the crop box is hidden but not deleted from the PDF file structure. Use the Redact tool if you need to permanently remove content.

Is there a difference between Crop and Remove Margins?

They are the same concept from different angles. 'Crop' is the general term for adjusting the visible page area. 'Remove margins' specifically means cropping inward to reduce excess white space around the edges.

Can I use the Crop tool to change the page size (e.g., A4 to A5)?

Indirectly yes. By cropping a page to exactly half its height, you effectively create an A5-sized page from an A4. For precise size changes, combine cropping with the Add Margin tool if you need to add canvas space.
